A cool clear blue sky to start the ride out of Donnybrook. It was a 5 km ride from town to rejoin the Munda Biddi trail so there was a bit of back-tracking first thing in the morning. It's hard to swallow an extra 5 km but it was worth the soft bed at Donnybrook. The ride today was relatively gentle with no big hills or valleys to ride down and climb out of. There were wide flat smooth tracks through pine forest where the pine smell was refreshing. And most surprising was the last 28km of the ride today along an old rail line. The train tracks and sleepers had mostly been removed and what remained was a narrow bike track (single file for the most part). It was smooth riding with gentle up and down sections.
Of course during the day there were the obligatory soft pea gravel and soft sand sections where I needed to push the bike because the trail was so un-ridable. But they are becoming shorter or I'm becoming more tolerant.
The first stop was a clear lake in the middle of the bush. Very pretty and I was tempted to go for a swim but decided to push on.
The flat sections through the pine forest.
The narrow rail-trail section leading into Nannup.
The park in downtown Nannup had some cool artwork.
